The renowned QC terme in the Porta Romana area will no longer be the only spa in the city. The largest metropolitan spa park will open in early 2025. Here we will find an oasis of more than 16,000 square meters, indoor and outdoor, dedicated to relaxation and wellness. It will be something grand. Specifically, it will have as many as 10 pools, 16 massage rooms, 9 relaxation areas, 4 saunas, a steam bath and a large Hammam. Paradise. As well as a fine bistro restaurant, cafeteria, bar lounge and garden bar.
It will be able to accommodate up to 600 people at once: Italy’s largest spa complex in a major city and Europe’s first green, carbon-neutral spa. As we read online, every detail has been taken care of to bring you an unprecedented spa experience. From the elegant pools to the environments designed to take you on a rejuvenating journey for body and soul.
And then they will be true spas with “rotten water” meaning water drawn from the deep (over 396 meters deep) and rich in sulfides. But rightly another question arises: Where will this amazing center be born?
The new spa: an oasis of sustainability and well-being
The new center, whose project sees the signature of Studio Marzorati Architettura – S+J srl, will come to life at the old Ex Scuderie De Montel in the San Siro area, one of the most beautiful examples of Art Nouveau architecture in the city, abandoned for years. It is in this area that a spring of sulfur water has been identified right at the Scuderie.
Sustainable materials, photovoltaics, the solar thermal panels and other systems are being used to build the largest urban spa in Italy, on an area of 16 thousand square meters. All this is done to reduce consumption and protect the environment, while preserving the history of the stables, built between 1915 and 1918, by restoring the existing sites.
What will the spa look like?
The spa will retain the Art Nouveau of the Stables with minor adaptations needed and will have a large amphitheater-like green area with hot and cold water pools, saunas, and a sensory garden. Inside the facility, however, there will be baths, hammams, whirlpools, a beauty and mind area, and as many as two dining areas. The first will be on the ground floor; a more atmospheric restaurant, on the other hand, will be located on the second floor. The products will be km 0, a vegetable garden corner is also planned to bring seasonality to the table.
The second level of the facility will also feature meeting rooms for neighborhood association debates and meetings. As well as other technical areas and courts.
The idea is to create a haven in the city for the mental and physical well-being of people who will be involved on an emotional and sensory level. The project in detail is displayed on the website of the architecture firm that is in charge of the work.
When will it open?
It was scheduled to open in early 2024. But given the construction situation it will open in early 2025. We are looking forward to it. This Milan spa will come out something great. Not just an oasis of peace and relaxation, but an area serving the citizenship in all respects. Eco-friendly, sustainable and energy-efficient.
