Almost there. The Tulipani Italiani company, famous for its U-pick tulip gardens, is reopening its Arese flower field on March 16. One of Milan’s springtime fixtures is back.
There are hundreds and hundreds of species ready and waiting for you to be picked, immortalized by your cell phones and be the background of your most beautiful selfies.
Are you ready to dive into a multicolored world like in Van Gogh’s paintings? The garden awaits you. It is the first and largest ‘u-pick’ tulip field in Italy.
Where the idea of u-pick tulip fields came from.
The project is the brainchild of a Dutch couple, Edwin Koeman and Nitsuhe Wolanios. Makers of the largest tulip garden in Italy. There is also one near Turin (in Gruscliasco) and with the one in Milan, the two founders can count about one million tulips in all.
Tulip fields are suitable for every occasion. Photographic sets, moments of relaxation and escapism or simply for a trip out of town and goes to complete the set of some worthy destinations to reach if you are from the Lombard capital. Between the Smurfs village near Milan, the Sweet Alpaca camp or a horseback riding trip, this camp can be another alternative to spend a few hours happily and amidst a thousand colors. Fill your eyes and sweep away the city dreariness for a while. And then you can take these bright flowers home as well by brightening up your homes.
Why they are called U-pick
U-pick stands for you pick, meaning, you pick. In these fields, in addition to walking around and filling your eyes with color, you can also pick the flowers themselves, for a fee, and take them home with you. But how does it work?
You can choose and pick the tulips you want. For picking, you do not need to use shears because you can cut the flower directly with your hands. With a voucher purchased online for 4 euros or on site for 5 euros you are entitled to 2 tulips included, but you can take as many as you want and pay for them later (1.50 euros each, at the beginning and end of the season they are discounted to€ 1.00).
!!!A word of caution: this is not an amusement park, be respectful of nature and choose your flowers carefully so you don’t throw them away or leave them on the ground once they are cut.
Opening hours
There are no actual closing days. It is a field at the end of the day. The camp will be open always 7/7, even in bad weather, from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (last entry 7 p.m.), Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. (last entry 7 p.m.). Find more info on the website.
