In Milan, fall brings with it a new season of exhibitions. The City has presented a rich and wide-ranging exhibition program, designed to accompany the city through the end of 2027 and, with some projects, into the early months of 2028.
From Palazzo Reale to the PAC, from MUDEC to the Museo del Novecento, the calendar spans different eras, artistic languages, and sensibilities. The program will feature major names in the international art world, as well as exhibitions dedicated to archives, civic collections, and Milan’s cultural heritage.
Milanese Fall: Dalí, Brueghel, and Matisse
Kicking off the season will be “Dalí and Fashion, ” at Palazzo Reale from September 24, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Featuring clothing, photographs, jewelry, and over 200 works, the exhibition will explore the relationship between Salvador Dalí, fashion, and the world of haute couture.
Also at Palazzo Reale, a major retrospective dedicated to Carla Cerati will open on September 26, while starting September 29 , visitors can immerse themselves in Flemish painting with “The Brueghels: The Origins of Pictorial Genres in Europe.”

During the same period, MUDEC will present “The World in a Room, ” an exhibition dedicated to Henri Matisse and his relationship with the cultures he encountered during his travels, from October 8, 2026, to February 21, 2027.
Among the most interesting offerings this fall are Shilpa Gupta ’s exhibition at the GAM, starting September 15, and Sheila Hicks ’ textile installations at the PAC, starting November 17.

Photography, Collections, and the City’s Memory
A significant portion of the program draws directly from the collections and archives of Milan’s civic institutions.
At Palazzo Morando, from November 3, 2026, to June 13, 2027, “Clothes on Stage: The 18th Century as Painted by Mosè Bianchi” will create a dialogue between historical garments and paintings, featuring works from the city’s collections.
The Museo del Novecento, meanwhile, will continue to explore the artistic culture of the last century with a project dedicated to Tommaso Trini, followed in 2027 by a focus on Pierre Restany. There will also be in-depth explorations of artists such as Vincenzo Agnetti, Enrico Castellani, Valerio Adami, and Emilio Tadini.
At the Fabbrica del Vapore, 2027 will begin with the photography of Inge Morath, while the CASVA will present “Somaini. Restless Gardens” starting in September 2026, dedicated to the relationship between sculpture, nature, and urban space.

2027 Brings Giacometti, Munari, and Leonardo
The new year will bring some of the most anticipated names on the program to Milan.
Starting February 25, 2027, Palazzo Reale will host “Alberto Giacometti and Italy, ” featuring over one hundred works exploring the connection between the Swiss sculptor and Italy.
This spring will bring a major retrospective on Bruno Munari, while from April through July , Giuseppe Maggiolini will take center stage with “Maggiolini and Milan: The Origins of Italian Design.”
The PAC will also host Doris Salcedo’s first major solo exhibition in Italy, scheduled to coincide with Milan ArtWeek. In the summer, the spotlight will turn to Giovanni Anselmo, followed in the fall by Chaïm Soutine and an exhibition dedicated to Luca Pignatelli.
Closing out the calendar will be “Leonardo and the North, ” running from October 2027 to February 2028: a journey through paintings, drawings, and manuscripts to discover Leonardo da Vinci’s influence on Northern European art.
