A screen lit up among the apple trees, a blanket on the grass, artisanal cider in a glass, and a sky that slowly darkens. This happens every summer evening in Salvirola, in the province of Cremona, about an hour from Milan, in a place that seems too good to be true, but really does exist.
It’s called Il Cascinetto Agriturismo, and from May 6 through September 27, 2026, it hosts a truly unique and original weekly event: Cinema in the Orchard.
An apple orchard, a screen, and no rush
When the gates of Agriturismo Il Cascinetto open to the public at 7:30 p.m., the orchard transforms into something difficult to describe without sounding exaggerated. The warm lights among the trees, the scent of grass, the picnic basket already waiting for you.
There’s no set arrival time: you can settle in at your own pace, eat, and chat. The movie starts when the sky decides —and at that point, you realize that for once, your phone has stayed in your pocket all by itself.
The story behind Il Cascinetto in Salvirola (which you wouldn’t expect)
Il Cascinetto wasn’t originally conceived as an event venue. It used to be an ostrich farm —yes, really—with a kitchen entirely dedicated to that meat.
Over time, the owners began collaborating with local orchards to salvage and redistribute unsold fruit to people in need. From that initiative, an entire supply chain was born: artisanal apple cider, the salvaged orchard, summer events, and finally, cinema under the stars.
Places like this usually only exist in Nordic lifestyle magazines. This one, however, is just one highway exit away from Porta Romana.

Is it really worth making the trip all the way to Salvirola?
If you’re used to events in Milan and are looking for something different to do over the weekend—something that speaks for itself on Monday morning at the office— yes, it’s worth it.
The format works for couples, groups of friends, and anyone who wants to slow down without going too far. It’s not a festival, it’s not a fair: it’s more like an evening at the home of someone who loves cinema and is lucky enough to have an orchard in their garden.
For those coming from Navigli, Isola, Porta Romana, or Brera, the hour-long drive on the highway passes almost unnoticed.
