The bike path that starts in Milan

If you like slow, green and relaxing rides this one is for you, then it starts conveniently from Milan. To take advantage of. Sometimes you don’t need to go too far or even big equipment or preparations. But willingness to go and discover. The route is mainly flat and follows a historic waterway in the midst of nature.
The bike path is dotted with quiet villages, bridges, old locks and trees reflected in the water. At the end of the route, two small villages that seem to have come out of another era await you: Cassinetta di Lugagnano and Morimondo.
But how does it work

Ideally you should start from the Navigli area, which is convenient and easy to reach. You ride along the Naviglio Grande through picturesque villages like Trezzano or Gaggiano( the happiest town in Itali by the way) and after an hour and a half of pedaling you reach Cassinetta di Lugagnano. Cassinetta offers a calm and noble atmosphere with its aristocratic villas and its location on the Naviglio Grande, which runs through the town and divides it into two urban cores. Little traffic makes it a perfect suburb for a bike ride.
After a gourmet stop to refresh yourself at one of the trattorias that dot the area you can pick up your bike again and reach Morimondo, which is about 12 kilometers from Cassinetta. Morimondo has an abbey famous as a magnificent example of Cistercian architecture, a masterpiece of Romanesque-Gothic art. The village deserves for its well-preserved medieval appearance and the rural landscape of the Ticino Valley.
How do you get back? Either redo the route backwards or reach the Albairate-Vermezzo station, near Morimondo, which accepts bikes and return comfortably to Milan-Romolo.
Small recommendations: the route is very exposed and if you plan to do it in summer, hat, lots of water and sunscreen.
