Immersive experiences abound in and around Milan: some transport you to New Orleans amid jazz rhythms, others turn you into a detective investigating a complex murder case, and many more envelop you in swirls of artistic colors and lights. Nothing, however, compares to this digital art experience, located in a 100-meter-long tunnel that has been renovated and converted into an art gallery.
With its 1,000 m² of curved LEDs generating ever-changing modern artworks, this unique gallery holds the record for the largest immersive digital installation in Europe. It’s just a 4-hour drive from Milan, and admission is completely free.

From air-raid shelter to digital art gallery
DAG ( Digital Art Gallery) is located inside a historic tunnel, once used as a passageway between two neighboring cities and, previously, as an air-raid shelter during World War II. The tunnel was renovated in 2025, preserving the original architecture through reversible elements such as LEDs, audio, and interactive sensors.
The exhibited work, Data Tunnel, was conceived by Refik Anadol, a Turkish-American artist renowned for generative art based on artificial intelligence. It uses the Large Nature Model,an AI ethically trained on millions of visual and audio data points from real ecosystems, to generate botanical textures, ocean currents, and atmospheric rhythms in real time, transforming the space into a “living digital landscape.”
