Nose up next week that a supermoon (the Super Harvest Moon) is coming, the largest and brightest of the year, marking the first so-called supermoon since November 2024.
Fascinating full moons have already lit up the sky over Milan recently as we have already told you about them. But this one has the prestige of being the biggest and brightest moon of the year. Not just a simple full moon-the moon of moons.
So big and bright because it will be at perigee, the closest point to Earth. Approximately 362,000 km close to us. Considering that usually the moon is at a distance of 384,400km there is a considerable difference.
The Harvest Moon

In 2025, this Moon occurs late on October 7, a date not seen since 1987.This astronomical phenomenon will be visible from the evening of the 6th or early morning of the 7th.Being in perigee it will be 14 percent larger and up to 30 percent brighter. It is called the Harvest because it occurs near the autumnal equinox (Sept. 22-23 this year) and, in the past, was linked to the harvest time in the fields. The Harvest Moon usually falls in September, but about every three to five years it moves to October, like this year. This is the first time since 2020 that the Harvest Moon has been observed in October. The next one will be in 2028.
Will the Harvest Moon (as it is translated in English) be the last supermoon in 2025? No according to meteorologists we will have a second one in November and a third in December.
The Harvest Super Moon symbolizes not only the end of the harvest but also a time of transition and rebirth.
Find places out of the light, parks or take the car and get out of Milan to the countryside. Headlights off, a few friends, a bottle of wine or whatever you want and the moon show. Perfect evening.
