Starting September 9, 2026, it will be possible to depart from Milan in the late afternoon and arrive in Brussels the following morning, leaving the stress of flying behind.
It took a little patience, but now it’s official! The new overnight train from European Sleeper connecting Milan, Zurich, and Brussels will begin service on September 9, 2026. Three times a week, Milanese travelers will be able to board the train in the evening and travel across Europe while they sleep, comfortably reaching the heart of Belgium (and beyond).
After a night on the train, waking up in Northern Europe
The idea is definitely appealing: boarding at Milan Porta Garibaldi in the evening and waking up the next day in Belgium. Departures from the Lombard capital are scheduled for every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evening.
The entire journey to Brussels takes about 17 hours, and as it travels north through Europe, it makes strategic stops in Como, Lugano, Göschenen, Zurich, and Cologne. For the return trip, the train departs Brussels on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings.
Tickets start at €59.99 for the Budget fare (reclining seat). To sleep comfortably lying down, the Classic berth starts at €79.99, with reservation, luggage, and bedding included. Those seeking greater privacy and comfort can opt for the Comfort Standard starting at €119.99.
