A musical meeting point between two of the largest cities in northern Italy, MiTo SettembreMusica 2025 is a prestigious music festival taking place from September 3 to 18, 2025 between Turin and Milan. MiTo is especially dedicated to classical music, whose events are evenly divided between the two cities. The goal is to reconnect citizens with classical music and make concerts and other musical events accessible, starting precisely with locations and ticket prices.
MiTo: the music festival that unites Milan and Turin
Born in 2007 thanks to the cultural twinning between Milan and Turin, MiTo transforms the two cities into a stage that is anything but ordinary. Concerts extend throughout the city, including churches, squares, museums and theaters, hosting big names in Italian and international classical music, such as the La Scala Philharmonic or the London Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2016, MiTo has followed a specific theme that then shapes the entire lineup and musical choices. The 2025 edition is entitled “Revolutions” and is divided into four paths; “Mitja and the Others,” “Berio and the Avant-Garde,” “Revolutions – times of war, times of peace,” and “Listening with the Eyes.” Each of the sections explores the concept of revolution in music.
MiTo’s free concerts in Milan
Among the outstanding free concerts of MiTo 2025 is that of Simone Telari, who on Sept. 12 will perform the music of Johann Sebastian Bach on the accordion in the beautiful setting of the Gallerie d’Italia. On Sept. 13, on the other hand, in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Naviglio, the Milan Symphony Choir will perform a choral concert that spans the 20th century and the contemporary. The choir will be accompanied by pianist Luigi Ripamonti.
At moderate prices, ranging from 2 to 5€, we point out Beethoven – Milano MITO d’Europe on September 9 at Teatro Dal Verme. A concert that is part of the “Milano MITO d’Europa” cycle, it focuses on the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, performed by young pianists Valerie Wellington and Volha Karmyzava in a two-piano duo. In the Sala della Balla at Castello Sforzesco, pianist Davide Cabassi will perform suites by Johann Sebastian Bach and Luciano Berio on Sept. 11.
