That there is never a shortage of news in Milan we have learned by now. The year 2024 began with some very curious news. Palazzo Marino, with a resolution proposed by Councillor for Budget and Heritage Emmanuel Conte, approved new projects for the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele: an underground cabaret right next to the historic Savini. And an underground connecting tunnel between the two Prada stores.
“Managing public assets is a commitment and a duty, Conte says in Milano Today. Its enhancement asks us for long-term vision and work, complex choices and openness to change and proposals for innovation and culture through private investment.”
An incredible measure that opens up the verticalization of the Gallery even in its underground floors, which are to date unused or partially occupied by service facilities.
New projects in the Galleria, a cabaret and the Prada tunnel
The famous fashion brand, which has as many as 2 boutiques in the Galleria, has proposed to the Administration to connect the two stores, so as to create a whole. The company would already have the okay of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage and plans a series of 3 million euros works. They will be carried out without hindering the daily activities that take place in the Galleria. A golden opportunity to revive spaces that exist but are not used. The proposed rent of which reaches 1,410 euros per square meter.
At the same time among the new projects in the Galleria, in addition to the tunnel, the Administration amends an old resolution of February 2021 regarding the entrustment of underground spaces of the Feltrinelli: it is now planned to grant Savini to open a cabaret theater right under the business with direct access from the premises. The intervention involves a sum of nearly 1 million euros. 150 square meters of space now granted to the historic restaurant for 12 years. Are we ready for this vertical change in the Galleria? Will it happen before the 2026 Olympics? We shall see.
