Iginio Massari’s pastry shop is coming to Italian airports and train stations. The first location will open shortlyat Milan Linate Airport, in the departures area; next will be Rome Termini Station, on the ground floor. These are two major locations, chosen for good reason: Linate recorded 5.8 million passengers in the first half of 2026 alone, with growth of more than 10% compared to the previous year, while Termini welcomes over 400,000 people every day, including commuters and long-distance travelers.
The agreement between Iginio Massari Alta Pasticceria, Areas MyChef, and F Retail was announced in 2025. It is now taking concrete shape with these openings, which aim to cater to travelers who are increasingly quality-conscious, even while on the go. “We’re bringing one of the most recognizable expressions of Italian excellence to our hubs,” said Sergio Castelli, CEO of Areas MyChef.
The collaboration extends beyond travel retail. Areas already manages the Milan location on Piazza Diaz —which opened in 2018 as the brand’s first outlet in the Lombard capital—and the plan calls for the gradual inclusion of additional retail locations in high-traffic urban areas.
The strategy reflects a deliberate choice by the family-owned company. “Since 2025, we have embarked on a new phase of growth, focusing on what we do best and entrusting the development and management of the network to a partner with specialized expertise,” explained Nicola Massari, CEO of Iginio Massari Srl. F Retail serves as the link between the brand and the various retail formats, with the task of translating the brand’s identity into solutions adaptable to very different contexts, without compromising its positioning.
In 2026, Gambero Rosso’s special “Tre Torte d’Oro” award, part of its ranking of Italy’s greatest pastry chefs, was presented to master pastry chef Iginio Massari as a special honor outside the official rankings.
