Ryanair offers one of the most extensive networks of routes from Milan, operating mainly from Milan Bergamo (Orio al Serio) and Milan Malpensa airports. The airline serves both domestic and international destinations, with a constant expansion of routes especially for the summer and winter seasons.
For summer and winter 2024, Ryanair had announced 10 new routes from Milan (mainly from Malpensa) to the following international destinations: Athens, Beni Mellal, Budapest, Castellón, Dubrovnik, Paris, Marrakech, Sarajevo, Skiathos, and Tallinn.
Ryanair offers about 150 total routes from Milan between Bergamo and Malpensa, covering a wide range of destinations in Europe and North Africa. Milan Bergamo (Orio al Serio) represents Ryanair’s main hub in northern Italy.

The new rule
As of November 3, 2025, Ryanair will introduce a new rule: it will no longer be possible to use a paper boarding pass, but it will be mandatory to present a digital boarding pass via the Ryanair app. This change, initially scheduled for May, has been postponed to give travelers more time to adapt to the change. Those who show up at the airport without a digital boarding pass will have to pay a penalty.
The Irish airline makes no exceptions for the elderly or people who are less handy with technology: those who do not have a smartphone will have to make arrangements in advance, asking relatives or companions for help, or pay the penalty at the airport. Ryanair justifies this choice with a desire to make travel faster, more sustainable, and more digital, saving more than 300 tons of paper per year and improving the passenger experience through real-time notifications and updates via app.
As for luggage rules, there have been no changes: it remains possible to carry one bag or backpack of maximum size 40x20x25 cm on board free of charge, to be stowed under the seat. Size controls will be strict and those who exceed the limits risk a fine of up to 70 euros at the gate.
False reports circulated on the web have been debunked: it is not true that luggage limits changed as of May 1 or that paper boarding passes were abolished on that date. Nor are there any automatic fines for those arriving late at the gate: in such cases, one can still board the next flight by paying a special surcharge.
