Not everyone knows that there’s a space in Milan dedicated to the poetess of the Navigli. A place where you can step into her world. Her beloved Coca-Cola, her red lipstick, her pack of cigarettes… The Spazio Alda Merini (or Casa delle Arti – Spazio Alda Merini) is a house-museum and cultural center dedicated to the life and work of the famous artist.
Alda’s Room
Located at Via Magolfa 30, just a short walk from the Navigli where the poet lived, the space is not her original home (which was on Ripa di Porta Ticinese), but a place that preserves her artistic and personal legacy. Alda’s Room is the heart of the museum. It is a faithful reconstruction of her bedroom, created using her original furniture (including her beloved piano), her clothes, her typewriter, and her personal belongings. It recreates the famous and “necessary” clutter in which the poet loved to create.

The space is run by volunteers and actresses from the CETEC Dentro/Fuori San Vittore Association. They periodically organize special guided tours in which the story of Alda’s life is interwoven with theatrical performances, poetry recitations, and aphorisms. Currently, admission for self-guided tours of Alda’s Room is by donation, and it is open Thursday through Sunday, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. For guided tours featuring performances lasting approximately 45–60 minutes, the cost is 10 euros, or 8 euros for students. In this case, reservations are recommended at info@spazioaldamerini.com.
The ground floor houses “Bar Charlie,” an inclusive gathering spot with a small garden where visitors can stop to read, have a coffee, and attend readings, concerts, or book presentations.
