Confirmed the works for the extension of the M5 metro from Milan to Monza, Regione Lombardia has approved the works committing to lavish as much as 283 million in funds. The Region’s allocation is huge explains Claudia Maria Terzi, the regional councillor for Infrastructure and Public Works, and has few precedents in terms of infrastructure investments. The timeline has changed, no longer end 2026.

Under the new timelines proposed by the City of Milan and accepted by the Lombardy Region, work is scheduled to begin in September 2027 and end in March 2033. Between testing and various inspections it will be available around December 2033. 7 new stops and the M5 metro will arrive in Monza in no time.
