January 15, 2025 marked the beginning of a new era for Milan’s Martesana neighborhood with the opening of the New Martesana Amphitheater (NAMA). This innovative space presented itself to the city with an eventful opening week, offering a glimpse of the diverse schedule that will characterize its future programming.
NAMA will not just be an amphitheater, but a true multipurpose cultural center. Already, rehearsal rooms, coworking areas and workshops open to all citizens find space inside.
The NAMA Project
The New Martesana Amphitheater was born from the desire to create a cultural and social hub in the heart of Milan’s Municipality 2. Promoted by the Ecology Tourism Culture Association in collaboration with Crea Productions and supported by various local realities, NAMA aims to be a hybrid space where culture, sociality and creativity come together.
In 2024, a questionnaire distributed to the community collected more than 1,300 responses, outlining the needs and desires of residents. Among the main requests that emerged: more sociability, cultural and artistic events, creative and craft activities, new gathering spaces, and a desire to “make community.”
The unique offer of Milan’s New Martesana Amphitheater
NAMA is divided into six main spaces, each with specific functions:
- Open NAMA Studio: an audiovisual recording and production studio accessible by reservation.
- Artisans Room: dedicated to the circular economy, with stations for cycle workshop, tailoring and tooling.
- Studio room: a bright and comfortable space for group study and planning.
- Multipurpose room: equipped with a bar and projection area, adaptable to different activities.
- Courtyard: a green space for relaxation and socializing.
- Amphitheater and Martesana Park: intended to host summer events and outdoor activities.
In addition, the center offers a wellness program for the body and spirit, with yoga classes and other holistic practices. NAMA WELLNESS represents an oasis of tranquility within the eclectic New Martesana Amphitheater that aims to promote a healthy and harmonious lifestyle.
