And the new year already begins with news that will send a number of people off the rails–in just over a week another transport strike is on the way. Both for Atm employees in Milan, but also for some rail and airport workers. A nice extended general stoppage that will put several thousand people out of work.
As stated on the portal of the Ministry of Transport this first strike of the new year is proclaimed by Faisa-Confail.
Modalities of the strike
The strike could last 4 hours although the time slots affected by the agitation have not yet been disclosed. As usual there will be problems with Atm’s buses, metro and streetcars.
But this time not only the Milan Transport Company will be involved, the railway and airport sectors will also be affected (mainly Linate, Malpensa and Sea employees will be involved)
with a 24-hour duration for both sides.
As communicated by the Faisa-Confail union itself, the reasons for this strike are mainly related to low salaries with promises of ridiculous increases that insult the dignity of employees as the union states. And not only that, the other reasons added are the exploitation of workers in increasingly precarious working conditions. An agitation that does not seem to subside since the reasons for the strikes that we have also faced recently in 2024 seem to be the same, low wages, precarious working conditions and little safety in the workplace.
Faisa Confail concludes-we demand a contract that respects us as people and as workers. Let’s see how it will end, meanwhile mark the date January 10 risk chaos in cities, train stations and airports. A start of the year with a bang as they say.
