23-karat gold is the main ingredient in this Christmas dessert. A gamble or a work of art? Let’s talk about a master pastry chef who this year decided to bring to life this pandoro made with 23-karat gold and saffron for 60 euros. The pastry chef in question is Stefano Camozzi of Mignon pastry shop in Lurate Caccivio (Como).
Camozzi, who has made this golden ingredient his signature, has already been famous for his other rich creations. Such as the all-gold panettone at 120 euros per kilo, and before that in 2022, the gilt praline, the all-gold chocolate at 69 euros.
The golden pandoro

According to online reports, Camozzi had already started producing the golden pandoro in late August in limited quantities, and in no time the pandoro sold out.
Camozzi does not make that many but it is a limited edition, each pandoro is numbered and 100 cakes are made per batch, guaranteeing exclusivity and each batch ends very soon.
The price? 60 euros per kilo. But you have edible gold flakes (23 kt) and saffron from a Brianza farm chosen by Camozzi himself. All in all, distinctive ingredients that will make Christmas a holiday even more sparkling than it is. Each cake weighs about 1 kg. It is practically an edible jewel.
Pandoro d’Oro Pandoro is available at Pasticceria Mignon in Lurate Caccivio, 29 Roncoroni Street.
Lurate Caccivio is about 40-45 km from Milan and it takes a scant hour to get there traffic permitting.
So what do you think of this luxurious dessert? Would you buy it? I admit that 60 euros would invest it because I would be curious to try it. How tasty is the gold?
