In the center of Milan, just a few steps from the Duomo, there is a place that often goes unnoticed but hosts the most striking events in the Lombard capital. The Rotonda del Pellegrini has a fascinating history and offers a unique atmosphere, making it one of the city’s hidden gems. Born in the Renaissance era, today it is an elegant and versatile location, but its past is anything but obvious.

From stable to star: the history of the Pellegrini Rotunda
The Rotunda was built in 1573 to a design by architect Pellegrino Tibaldi, commissioned by St. Charles Borromeo. At the time it was a real stable, with a decagonal shape and internal ramps designed for easy movement of horses and mules. Over the centuries it underwent several changes, but it was after the damage of World War II that the Rotunda experienced a rebirth, becoming a cultural center thanks to the Ambrosianeum Foundation.
