Flamenco is a dance that has dazzled and enchanted audiences in Spain and countries around the world for more than 200 years. This art form is much more than just a musical genre: it is a type of creative expression that combines voices that go straight to the heart, hand claps and guitar chords that accompany the dancers in their interpretation of this typical Andalusian dance. We Call It Flamenco Milano embodies all the magic and passion of this Spanish tradition. Dancers, a cantaor (singer) and a tocaor (guitarist) performing amidst a sea of roses. It will be incredible.
This throbbing spectacle will set Milan on fire inside the San Fedele Auditorium with breathtaking performances. Tickets are on sale now, but seats are limited-don‘t miss this experience charged with all the intensity and excitement of Flamenco.
What is We Call It Flamenco?
We Call It Flamenco takes audiences on a journey through the tradition of the Iberian Peninsula, offering an authentic cross-section of Spain right here in town. Dressed in colorful trajes de flamenca (long flamenco dresses) and traditional mantones (Manila shawls), flamenco dancers will set the rose-covered stage ablaze as they twist their arms and tap their heels to the passionate rhythm produced by the voice of a singer and guitarist.
And if the emotion(duende) is particularly strong during the evening, performers can improvise overwhelmed by the fiery passion of the dance. There is nothing programmed in this art form. One follows the impulse and the rhythm that runs through the veins.
Flamenco, its palos and performance
There are more than 50 varieties of flamenco, called “palos,” each of which expresses a type of feeling or state of mind. From elation to anger, from hope to sorrow, these palos encapsulate all the emotions of the human experience, and a total of six will be performed that evening.
The liveliest dances, such as fandango and bulería, will be celebrated in this unique experience, as well as traditional tango, soleá, zambra, and cantiñas. Amidst a sea of roses and with incredible special effects, you will witness a magical spectacle of traditional flamenco songs and dances that the inhabitants of Andalusian cities like Cadiz and Jerez carry in their hearts.
