If you’re looking for the most interesting Asian trends in Milan, there’s a spot in the Paolo Sarpi neighborhood that’s just right for you. Opened in April 2026, Matchamo is the brainchild of four young Chinese-born female entrepreneurs (Yimi, Luisa, Elena, and Mei), who have created a venue with a minimalist aesthetic and a relaxed atmosphere.
Here you can try the famous Ube Latte
Although the café was founded around the cult of green tea, the founders have identified the biggest trend of the moment: ube. This sweet Filipino yam, with its vanilla notes and distinctive bright purple color, is piquing everyone’s curiosity.

It has nothing to do with blueberries or artificial coloring: the drink’s purple color is 100% natural and comes directly from the pulp of this root. What does it taste like? Ube has a very distinctive and delicate flavor. It’s often described as a blend of vanilla, pistachio, and white chocolate. It isn’t necessarily a coffee-based drink. The basic version is made by mixing ube extract with milk; it’s often served cold over ice, using plant-based milks like oat, almond, or coconut milk, which pair perfectly with the tuber’s exotic flavor.
At Matchamo, you’ll find the Ube Matcha Cloud: a latte with ube and cold foam made from milk, cream cheese, and matcha for 8.50 euros; or the version with coconut water.
Other treats to try at Matchamo
Matchamo is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a snack or a breakfast that’s a treat for the palate. Start your day with specialty coffee from the Cafezal roastery, paired with sweet treats like Basque cheesecake and yuzu macarons , or savory options like the iconic egg sando served in soft, homemade shokupan bread. For those looking for something lighter, there’s a bowl with Greek yogurt, fruit, and granola.
It’s open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is located at Viale Pasubio 16 in Milan.
