Forget for a moment the fast-paced Milan, the one of rising prices and digital frenzy. There is another city, suspended in a bubble of old-world elegance, that reveals itself only to those who know how to slow down. It all begins with the clatter of a 1928 tram, where you can dine amid velvets and soft lighting while the city center flows past the window like an old black-and-white film. But Milan’s charm doesn’t stop at the tracks. Beyond that historic carriage, the city hides equally magical micro-experiences:
- A sunset aperitif on a boat along the Navigli
- Strolling among the picturesque, must-see mushroom-shaped houses,
- Spinning three times on the bull’s testicles as a good luck charm,
Note: The experiences are listed randomly; the order is not based on merit.
A sunset aperitif on a boat on the Navigli

Let’s be honest: the only thing Milan lacks is the sea. But thanks to these boat trips, you can leave the city streets behind. Sipping your aperitif as the boat glides peacefully through the water at sunset, with a gentle breeze cooling the evening air, is an almost surreal experience in a metropolis. Info and prices here.
Dining on the tram
ATM has created ATMosfera, a perfectly restored 1930s tram transformed into a traveling restaurant. It’s the most romantic way to see the heart of Milan glide past the window while you enjoy a gourmet menu (meat, fish, or vegetarian). A journey back in time on rails that smells of velvet and nostalgia. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes before your reservation!

Discover the famous mushroom-shaped houses

In this corner of the “Journalists’ Quarter,” it feels like walking through the Smurfs’ village. Created by engineer Mario Cavallè in the post-war period as quick housing solutions, these circular houses are a unique and incredibly photogenic architectural experiment. Designed as quick, low-cost solutions, these circular homes (about 45 square meters) are built on two levels.

Every city has its own ritual: in Rome, you toss a coin; in Milan, you tap your heel on the bull’s genitals in the mosaic of the Galleria. Three full circles (strictly three!) to attract good luck. A superstitious ritual that unites grumpy Milanese locals and tourists from all over the world.
