Milan in summer there seem to be only cons more than pros : it is hot and humid. The subways full of sticky and sometimes unwashed people who give off a not very pleasant stench. Mosquitoes, heat and humidity. In short, it seems like hell, and for those who hate summer like yours truly who also suffer from low blood pressure, July and August ( and partly June) have a bad time waiting for rain and autumn to come quickly.
But still, I strongly believe that there are pros about spending summer in Milan. And that it is not so bad, let’s see them together:
Pros
Deserted city
With the fact that most people go on vacation there are fewer crowds on public transportation and in normally crowded places. There are tourists of course but the amount of people that normally circulate around is much less. August in Milan is almost beautiful, you can literally walk in the middle of usually busy streets without getting killed like Corso Buenos Aires etc.. Trivially Milan becomes a silent city.
Events

Among the pros of summer in Milan is having a city full of cultural events: festivals, open-air cinema, concerts and cultural reviews that make the summer more lively ( such as Summer at the Castle, AriAnteo or Candlelight concerts, the Milano Latin Festival, and the various beach clubs to go to to experience unique evenings.
Outdoor nightlife

Dehors, rooftops and courtyards become ideal destinations to enjoy the Milanese aperitivo or to dance under the stars
More accessible culture
Wanting to doi tourists in the city is more accessible. Rarely in July and August is the city full of tourists, making it a little easier to visit the city’s best-known museums and monuments such as the Duomo, Pinacoteca di Brera and others.
Swimming pool, swimming pool and swimming pool
Besides, in summer in Milan you can splash around in the swimming pool. Otherwise when would you go to the Bagni Misteriosi for example?
In short you see, one cannot say that the pros of spending the summer in Milan are few, but now let’s look at the cons:
Cons
Heat, mugginess
Surely the heat in the city is a reason to get away from Milan It is not only heat but the humidity that sticks to you and doesn’t let you breathe that make city life and even sleeping without air conditioning very difficult. In addition, the heavy urbanization traps the heat: moving around the city in the central hours becomes almost unbearable. The asphalt is scorching hot.
Mosquitoes
If eating out is so nice, it can be a nightmare for the restless mosquitoes that between the humidity and the Navigli canals are the masters in Milan.
Heavy air
Another consequence of the heat and little rain is the air becoming heavier and more polluted. In addition, the air often remains stagnant and the heat accentuates the perception of pollution.
Suspended services

If we said earlier that the city empties out this means that so many services are suspended, restaurants, pharmacies and various stores, which tend to close 2 to 3 weeks in August. Maybe less than in the past but some closed shutters are not hard to miss.
The problem is not the summer in Milan but the heat, which is torture. The Po Valley is known to be an area of Italy with terrible weather. And then let’s face it summer is only nice if you are at the beach or you have your house in the mountains or somewhere else, in the basic city this season is a torment whether it is Milan or somewhere else, however it can still can have its positive sides as we have seen.
