In March, besides being able to sleep for free in all B&Bs in Italy for B&B Day, there is also Women’s Day, and for the occasion one of the most beautiful Italian garden parks in the world offers free admission to all women of all ages. We are located in the province of Verona, just under two hours from Milan.
But we are not the ones to say that this is the most beautiful park in existence. Covering more than 60 hectares, this location has won several awards, including “Most Beautiful Park in Italy 2013,” “Second Most Beautiful Park in Europe 2015,” “World Tulip Award 2019,” and “Best Attraction in the World 2020.” In short, we are talking about a pride of the nation, as we read online.
Especially now that spring is approaching, it is an explosion of colors and flowers. Tulips, peonies, sunflowers, lotus flowers, irises, dogwoods, water lilies, dahlias, hydrangeas, daffodils, crocuses, hyacinths, begonias, and other incredible wonders of Mother Nature. It looks like Eden and that is why it must be visited at least once in a lifetime. At the opening you will find the first tulips, daffodils and hyacinths the rest going on with the seasons.
Which park are we talking about?
We are talking about Sigurtà Park. Among the most beautiful and most flowering in the world with a 100-year history behind it. The history of the park goes back as far as 1407. After a long transformation over the centuries, it was not until 1941 that it became a park-garden when it became the property of the Sigurtà family who over the years made it as beautiful and lush as it is now. Sigurtà Park is a worldwide attraction that welcomes hundreds of visitors. And we are only a scant 2 hours from Milan. In addition to the thousand thousand flowers at Sigurtà, the Tulipanomania festival is organized : in March and April the park is transformed into a colorful sea of tulips that together with daffodils and hyacinths make the park a paradise on earth. We then find:
- a labyrinth: opened in July 2011, the Labyrinth is one of the Garden’s most fascinating points of interest. At the center stands a tower, inspired by that of the Bois de Boulogne park in Paris. The composition houses 1,500 specimens of Yew trees on a rectangular area of 2,500 square meters.
- Hundreds of flower beds.
- The Medicinal Plant Garden: lots of species including lavender, horseradish or horseradish, sage, mountain celery, fragrant garlic, verbena, hyssop, chili pepper, Sicilian thyme, artemisia, savory, echinacea, wormwood, marjoram, mint, lemon balm, leek, lemon grass and oregano.
- The dog cemetery: one of the quietest places in the park: here rest the faithful friends, Belgian shepherd, German shepherd and poodles, who belonged to the Sigurtà family
- A magnificent sundial designed to be valid for 26,000 years
- The volitional cave with a corner dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes
- The Hermitage
- The stone of youth
- The great oak tree
- And so many other points of interest that make the Sigurtà park-garden something incredible
