If you don’t know which restaurant to choose in Milan, you need to arrange a date, or you simply want to eat properly, then your choice cannot but fall on La Società, the Milan restaurant that offers a unique dining experience. You will come out ecstatic and will never want to go without. Opened in 2019, La società is a curious restaurant that we discovered just recently.
High-class gourmet restaurant whose beauty lies in not pulling itself up for anything when it has every right to do so; on the contrary, you feel at ease, welcomed, at home, among friends, relaxed and serene. Exceptional ambiance, sublime food and equally unique cocktails. Just think that over 100 types of gin are concealed here. In case you know anything about it.
The Milan Society
The restaurant consists of 3 rooms each with a different, colorful, fun and refined wallpaper with vintage photos on the walls, real, family photos of the owners. Each room has its own playlist so you have an experience based on where you sit. Where we ate there was a photo of Giulia ‘s mother (one of the two beating hearts of the restaurant) at her first communion 50-60 years ago.
Then there is Andrea, the restaurant’s other soul, the chef, whose refined culinary skills will take you on a journey of incredible flavors. Already noted by the Michelin Guide, their goal is to get a star. Prices are more or less of such a place. We chose the 5-course tasting so you can try a little bit of everything (95 euros) the 8-course one costs 130, or you choose a la carte. We recommend the tasting so you really get to know the culinary art of this man who has hands of gold.
The kitchen
Andrea was born a cook in Spain and then trained with top chefs in Italy of the caliber of Cannavacciuolo. His idea of cooking is transforming, taking a known dish and going beyond the classic recipe. For example, among several dishes in the tasting was Andalusian gazpacho, which Andrea proposed as follows. Ravioli made with daikon root filled with tomato velouté on a bed of tomato. Cucumber and tomato gele and air-fried celeriac, all garnished with aioli sauce made with oil, garlic and lemon. A contrast of colors and flavors to try. But not just that.
First, we started with a trio of equally tasty and tantalizing appetizers: parmesan boules with mayonnaise and Russian salad, spinach centina and culatello with pear mostarda, and concluded the trio with an anchovy crudo with caviar. Just the thought of it makes us want to come right back! Then a revisited savory cappuccino with salty brioche to dunk and other incredible dishes made with passion that bring unusual but good flavors and combinations to the table without ever forgetting the warmth of home.
We leave you with the menu in case you want to check it out. We give you our word that you will leave La Società Milano more than thrilled.
