Morimondo

Morimondo is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and, believe it or not, it is only 30 km from the center of Milan. The main attraction is the Abbey of Morimondo, built in the Middle Ages by French Cistercian monks from Morimond. It is the perfect destination for those who love cycling. In fact, the place can be easily reached by bike, thanks to the cycle path that runs alongside the Naviglio di Bereguardo canal (from Abbiategrasso to Naviglio di Bereguardo).
And in summer, you can walk among the fireflies.
Trezzo sull’Adda

Located east of the metropolitan city of Milan, Trezzo sull’Adda is another really nice destination for day trips near Milan. The village offers a journey back in time. Among the attractions to visit are the Visconti Castle overlooking the river and the Alessandro Taccani hydroelectric power station. This town can also be reached by bike along the Naviglio Martesana cycle path.
Take a trip to the Le Foppe di Trezzo Oasis: it is an ideal place for beautiful walks in the open air, surrounded by nature.
Monza
Monza is the third largest municipality in the Lombardy region in terms of population. The town is quiet and allows you to visit places surrounded by nature, such as its beautiful park and the Royal Villa. For F1 enthusiasts , there is the famous Monza national racetrack, called Monza Eni Circuit. This is a car and motorcycle racing circuit that hosts regular races and allows you to try your hand at driving on the circuit.
Bring your camera to take beautiful photos of the characteristic historic center. The city can be reached by train from Central Station (about 18 minutes).
Mantua
Mantua is a city surrounded by three artificial lakes and is listed as a World Heritage Site. It is a beautiful Lombard city of art with numerous monuments built by the Gonzaga family in the 15th century. It is a destination suitable for those who love photography. In fact, from the Ponte San Giorgio bridge, you can admire one of the most beautiful skylines in the world. Another shot not to be missed is the romantic sunset reflected in the waters of the Ducal Palace.
Bergamo
Bergamo is history and elegance. If you want to organize trips outside Milan, Bergamo is a must. There are two parts of Bergamo to visit, the ‘old’ part and the Lower Town. The oldest area, called the Upper Town, is surrounded by Venetian walls and can be reached by funicular. The city’s cathedral and Piazza Vecchia, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, are beautiful.

Verbania
Verbania is a large Italian municipality (consisting of several hamlets) located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. Villa Taranto with its botanical gardens is known throughout the world; if you are lucky, you can visit it during tulip week. The elegant Art Nouveau villas overlooking the lake are striking.
Varenna
Varenna is the ideal place to go for day trips near Milan (several boats depart from here for intriguing adventures). The boat trip from Como to Varenna is a unique experience. Why do we recommend visiting this place? Simple: the small fishing village overlooking Lake Como is unique and romantic. The colorful houses, picturesque alleys, and Villa Monastero make it one of the most elegant towns on Lake Como.
Isola del Garda
Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. With an area of 370 square kilometers, it is the perfect destination for a day trip from Milan. Sirmione

Monte Isola
Lake Iseo offers truly fabulous views. Monte Isola is an Italian municipality covering the island of the same name on the lake. The island is characterized by 11 charming villages. For a breathtaking view, we recommend a visit to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola. In 2019, Monte Isola was voted the third best European tourist destination, surpassing cities such as Athens and Amsterdam.
Verona
Verona, the city of lovers, the city of Romeo and Juliet, the work of the famous W. Shakespeare, a city of art and good food. Verona is an essential stop for your day trips near Milan. Legio (VA)

Franciacorta

Grazzano Visconti

This is a trip just outside Milan, on the border with Emilia, but still only an hour’s drive from the Lombard capital. This medieval village is a charming gem with its castle, walls, and fairytale appearance. It really feels like you’re in a fairytale. Access to the village is free. Entrance to the castle costs €16 (€8 for children under 16). Take the car and pay a visit because you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time! If you’re a fan of Harry Potter, Grazzano is home to the wonderful Emporio Stregato (Haunted Emporium) which is well worth a visit.
Orta San Giulio

This magical town is located on the island of San Giulio on Lake Orta. Also one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, it is truly enchanting. Located 400 meters from the shore, it can be reached by ferry. It is pure poetry with its little houses overlooking the lake and the natural spectacle all around. Just over an hour and a half from Milan, it will surprise you!

Two hours from Milan, you can reach this destination for a super cute day trip. Valeggio is a small village in the province of Verona, famous above all for its tortellini. This city of art is a gem with waterways running through the village and houses reflected in the water.
